Hi Kari, the account is really subjective, different accounts would be used by different people and as long as the account label is "appropriate" it would be fine. I looked through the Sample chart of accounts and found a couple options for you. You could use anything that's labelled as "Hay Expense" - I have 5240 under my livestock expenses, it's labelled Twine and Containers and I would think it's suitable. If all else fails you could just put it under your Operating Expenses as Small Tools & Hardware Expense, for me that's account 5755.
