I set up a new analyst file but it didn't automatically set up the the previous fiscal year so that I can enter opening A/R and A/P. I am not sure what I did wrong.

    Hi Carla. You didn't do anything wrong - all you have to do is set the date while recording the transaction for the previous year set to the date in the past year that you want. So if you set up a 2016 file simply enter Dec 20, 2015 for example on the transaction entry.
    This works for both A/P and A/R entries
