I am setting up accounts for the first time. Ive input my capital assets and am wondering if i can import them into the assets in the chart of accounts.

No need to import anything to the chart of accounts. Just add up the totals for each capital asset class and put those totals as opening balances on your capital asset accounts - they start at 1800-00.
